Meet Dr. Justin Chan
Dr. Justin has been a pediatric dentist practicing in the DFW Metroplex since 2012, and he never gets tired of being able to help children escape dental pain and improve not only their oral health, but their general mood in a matter of minutes through his care! His goal is to use his knowledge, skill, and passion to empower children and their parents to better care for their oral health by showing how simple and fun dental visits can be. He can’t wait to meet your family here at Sprout Dentistry for Kids.
Dr. Justin was born in San Francisco and raised in the Bay Area. He now lives in McKinney with his wife Sayaka and their daughters Erin and Maia. They also share their home with three rescue cats: Shio, Mugi, and Ume.
In his free time, he enjoys martial arts, meditation, watching sports, and spending time with his family. And yes—he’s also an accomplished balloon artist!

Why Did You Become a Pediatric Dentist?
Why Did You Become a Pediatric Dentist?
Dr. Justin studied martial arts from a young age, focusing on Shaolin Kung Fu, Judo, and Tai Chi at Yee’s Martial Arts Academy in the California Bay Area. His Grandmaster, Sifu John Yee, emphasized compassion and helping others, which shaped Dr. Justin’s character and inspired his passion for working with children. Teaching martial arts classes sparked his love for mentoring kids.
He was also inspired by his childhood dentist and orthodontist. Their positive influence showed him how powerful a healthy, happy smile could be—not just physically, but emotionally and mentally. During college and dental school, Dr. Justin pursued this passion through outreach programs, charity events, and leadership roles in pediatric-focused organizations.
One moment that has stayed with him was treating a terminally ill child through the Make a Wish Foundation. The child’s wish was simply to have a dental cleaning. Dr. Justin and his team decorated the room with balloons, and the boy smiled the entire time. That moment, and many others, are why Dr. Justin is passionate about what he does.

Why Did You Become a Pediatric Dentist?
Why Did You Become a Pediatric Dentist?
Dr. Sage’s journey to dentistry was unique. He originally studied electrical engineering at Purdue and worked in mortgage banking before discovering his true passion—pediatric dentistry.
Having grown up in Korea, he experienced a shift in access to quality dental care after moving to the U.S. That experience sparked a desire to make a difference and advocate for access to compassionate, equitable care for all families.
Once he entered dental school, Dr. Sage knew pediatrics was his calling. His ability to connect with kids and make dentistry fun led him to specialize and pursue board certification. Today, he feels grateful to help children build lifelong healthy habits through trust, education, and gentle care.
